Biography

My name is Mike Colavito, and I want to thank all those that visit the site.  Everyone is busy these days doing more than they can handle; so to take the time out of your schedule to check out little old me is very nice. 

I don't think any writer enjoys writing a biography, but I do think it's important that people understand what propels the author.

There are many things that motivate me, but I have a true passion for spirituality and fantasy. Ever since I was a child I was fascinated with science fiction books and movies, as well as fantasy novels.  You couldn't (still can't) tear me away from the 1950's classic cult films like Creature from the Black Lagoon or books like The Hobbit. They ignited the dreamer in me.

At the same time, I was raised a strict Catholic, and ruminated on the heavy existential topics, trying to figure out where God fit in my life and this world. As time and travails have seasoned me, my faith has become my backbone.  It is what gives me meaning and purpose.

So how do fantasy and spirituality play nice inside my head and my heart? It's not always clear, but it is always exciting when they do. The majority of my writing is split evenly between spirituality and spiritual/fantasy. However, I do intend, time permitted, to write a strict fantasy novel named Master Illusionist.  You can find a portion of the first chapter in my first blog post.

In the books section, take a look at Life's Toolbox and Circle of Faith, Light's Prophecy.  Both books are fast paced, and I hope enjoyable.

I also have five children's books that I've written under the moniker Corino's Adventures. They are unpolished, which is why I haven't released any yet, but I'm allowing a free download of one of the books for feedback.  So if you download it, please let me know what you think.
